Base licence on the camera
Every camera runs the Vicodis Visitor Counter base licence.
Vicodis Parking is the car park application of Vicodis Vehicle. Counting lines at the entrance and the exit count cars entering and leaving, report each vehicle class separately and derive the number of free spaces — on the camera, without a server.
Vicodis Parking counts exclusively with counting lines that you draw in AXIS Object Analytics across the entrance and the exit. Every vehicle crossing the entry line is booked as an arrival, every vehicle crossing the exit line as a departure.
If both lanes are in view, one camera covers both lines. Where the entrance and the exit are far apart, each gets its own camera and Vicodis Zone combines them into one car park figure.
AXIS Object Analytics tells the vehicle classes apart, and Vicodis keeps them apart. Vehicle class counting means you see what drove in, not just how many.
Each class has its own figures in the vehicle view of the dashboard. Two-wheelers are counted, but by default they do not take up a parking space.
Parking occupancy counting without a sensor per bay: the free space figure comes straight from the count at the gates.
You enter the number of spaces once. Arrivals minus departures gives the vehicles currently inside, and the difference to the capacity is the free space figure.
Because cars stay overnight, the daily zero reset used in buildings is normally switched off in a car park. If the figure ever drifts, you set the number of vehicles inside to the value you counted, and the free spaces follow at once.
The threshold at which the signal changes is freely configurable, just as it is for buildings. The free spaces display runs full screen in any browser — on a monitor at the entrance or a screen in the ticket hall.
The same state can switch a camera output, an Axis siren and light or an HTTP device such as a relay, and a live endpoint delivers the figure to digital signage.
Vicodis Parking counts occupancy. It is not a guidance system that leads drivers to an individual bay — that needs a sensor above every space and is a different kind of product. We would rather say so up front.
Many car parks have power but no network. Counting does not need one: the camera counts and stores everything locally. To read the figures from your office, an LTE router in the cabinet connects the camera to your network, typically through a VPN.
Vicodis can also push the live figure to a receiver on your own web server every 30 seconds, so a website or a sign elsewhere shows the free spaces without anyone reaching into the car park network.
Parking runs on the Vicodis Vehicle add-on licence, paid once and bound to the camera. The same licence also covers traffic counting on streets. All figures are on prices for Vicodis.

The Vehicle add-on unlocks vehicle classes, the vehicle view and the free spaces figure — for car parks and for traffic.
No subscription and no cloud charges. See how it is used in practice in car park occupancy counting.
No. Vicodis Parking counts vehicles at the entrance and the exit and calculates the free spaces from the difference to the capacity. It does not watch individual bays and cannot guide a driver to a specific space. Sites that need bay-level guidance need a sensor per space, which is a different kind of system.
No. The camera classifies each vehicle as a car, truck, bus, two-wheeler or other vehicle and counts it when it crosses a line, but it never reads or stores a licence plate. No images leave the camera. The figures that remain are counts per class and time interval, nothing more.
Yes, if both lanes are in the camera’s field of view. You then draw one counting line for arrivals and one for departures in the same image. Where the entrance and the exit are far apart, each gets its own camera, and Vicodis Zone combines them into one car park figure.
You correct it by hand. Missed or doubled detections, maintenance work or vehicles parked before installation can make the figure drift slightly over weeks. In the dashboard you set the number of vehicles currently inside to the value you counted, and the free spaces follow immediately. Counted arrivals and departures stay unchanged.
No. Counting, storage and the free spaces display all run on the camera and in the local network. An internet or LTE connection is only needed if you want to read the figures from elsewhere or show them on a website, and even then only counts are sent, never images.
