Privacy policy
This website uses no cookies, no tracking and no content from other servers. The only personal data we process is what your browser sends to our web server and what you write to us.
1. Information on the collection of personal data and contact details of the controller
1.1 Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest. Below we explain how we handle your personal data when you use this website. Personal data is any data by which you can be personally identified.
1.2 The controller responsible for data processing on this website within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Data Components K+S GmbH, Rungestraße 12, 10179 Berlin, Germany, phone +49 30 290090-84, fax +49 30 290090-85, email sales@datacomponents.de. The controller is the natural or legal person who, alone or jointly with others, decides on the purposes and means of processing personal data. Further company details are in the imprint.
1.3 You can reach our data protection officer at dsb@datacomponents.de.
1.4 For security reasons and to protect the transmission of personal data and other confidential content, such as enquiries sent to us, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by “https://” and the lock symbol in your browser’s address bar.
2. Data collected when you visit this website
If you only use this website for information, that is, if you do not send us any information, we only collect the data that your browser transmits to our server (so-called server log files). When you open a page, we collect the following data, which we need for technical reasons to display the website to you:
- the page visited
- date and time of access
- amount of data sent in bytes
- the source or link from which you reached the page
- the browser used
- the operating system used
- the IP address used (where applicable, in anonymised form)
Processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the stability and functionality of our website. The data is not passed on or used in any other way. We do, however, reserve the right to check the server log files retrospectively if there are specific indications of unlawful use.
3. No cookies, no tracking, no third-party content
This website sets no cookies and uses no web analytics, no advertising or remarketing services and no social media plugins. It embeds no videos, maps or other content from external providers. Fonts, images and all other files are served from our own server, so no data is passed to third parties such as font or content delivery services when you visit a page. No consent tool is therefore needed. Should we use such services in future, we will update this policy beforehand and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
4. Contacting us
When you contact us, for example by email or through the contact form, personal data is collected. Which data is collected through the contact form can be seen in the form itself: name, organisation, email address, phone number and camera model if given, and your message. The form sends these details by email to our sales team; nothing is stored on the web server. Spam is filtered with a hidden form field and a minimum time for filling in the form, without any external service.
This data is stored and used solely to answer your request or to contact you, and for the related technical administration. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your request under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. If your enquiry aims at the conclusion of a contract, Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR is an additional legal basis. Your data is deleted once your request has been dealt with in full, that is, when the circumstances show that the matter has been conclusively resolved, provided that no statutory retention obligations apply.
5. Rights of the data subject
5.1 Applicable data protection law grants you the following rights towards the controller regarding the processing of your personal data (rights of access and intervention); for the conditions of each right, please refer to the legal basis given:
- right of access under Art. 15 GDPR;
- right to rectification under Art. 16 GDPR;
- right to erasure under Art. 17 GDPR;
- right to restriction of processing under Art. 18 GDPR;
- right to notification under Art. 19 GDPR;
- right to data portability under Art. 20 GDPR;
- right to withdraw consent under Art. 7 (3) GDPR;
- right to lodge a complaint under Art. 77 GDPR.
To exercise these rights, write to the controller or to our data protection officer at the addresses above. The supervisory authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).
5.2 Right to object
Where we process your personal data on the basis of our overriding legitimate interest following a balancing of interests, you have the right to object to this processing at any time, with effect for the future, on grounds relating to your particular situation.
If you exercise your right to object, we will stop processing the data concerned. We reserve the right to continue processing, however, if we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, fundamental rights and freedoms, or if the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Where we process your personal data for direct marketing, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of your personal data for such marketing. You can exercise this objection as described above. If you exercise your right to object, we will stop processing the data concerned for direct marketing purposes.
6. Duration of storage of personal data
How long personal data is stored depends on the relevant legal basis, the purpose of processing and, where applicable, the statutory retention period (for example retention periods under commercial and tax law).
Where personal data is processed on the basis of express consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, it is stored until the data subject withdraws consent.
Where statutory retention periods apply to data processed within legal or quasi-legal obligations on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, this data is routinely deleted once the retention periods have expired, provided it is no longer needed to perform or prepare a contract and we have no continuing legitimate interest in storing it.
Where personal data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, it is stored until the data subject exercises the right to object under Art. 21 (1) GDPR, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override the interests, rights and freedoms of the data subject, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Where personal data is processed for direct marketing on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, it is stored until the data subject exercises the right to object under Art. 21 (2) GDPR.
Unless the other information in this policy on specific processing situations states otherwise, stored personal data is deleted when it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected or otherwise processed.
7. Vicodis products
This policy covers the website only. The Vicodis counting software runs on your own cameras and sends no data to us; how it handles images is described on people counting and the GDPR.
