Plain-text widget
Point a text or web widget at live.txt?value=free and it shows the number of free places.
The people counting API of Vicodis runs on the camera itself: live endpoints for signage and your own systems, CSV and PDF exports, and scheduled email reports sent through your own SMTP server rather than ours.
GET /local/vicodis/api/live { "occupied": 83, "capacity": 120, "free": 37, "state": "ok", "today": { "in": 412, "out": 329 } } GET /local/vicodis/api/live.txt?value=free 37
One address returns all current figures as JSON: people or vehicles inside, capacity, free places, the traffic light state and today’s entries and exits. A second address returns a single value as plain text — for displays that cannot read JSON.
Sign-in uses a normal camera account; viewer rights are enough. A polling interval of 2 to 10 seconds is plenty, because the figures only change when someone crosses the line.
occupiedinside right nowfreeplaces leftstateok · warn · fulltodayentries and exits todayzonesper zone, with ZoneDigital signage integration: counting figures work with almost any player — no plugin, no middleware.
Point a text or web widget at live.txt?value=free and it shows the number of free places.
The state field switches between ok, warn and full, so the player can change colour without calculating anything.
With several cameras, each screen can show its own zone or level with the zone parameter.
Cross-origin access for web pages is off by default and switched on in the settings only if a widget needs it.
For a public website you do not want visitors reaching into the camera network. Instead, Vicodis can push the live figure to a small receiver on your own web server every 30 seconds — and at once when the traffic light changes. The request is protected by a token you choose.
For reporting systems, Vicodis can also push the counts of the whole day to an address you set, at an interval between 5 minutes and a day.
CSV export: people counter figures for any period you choose, hourly, daily or monthly. Files are UTF-8 with semicolons, so they open directly in Excel and import cleanly into Power BI. The same report can be saved as a formatted PDF from the print view.
The report header names the location, the device ID, the period and what was counted — useful when the figures go into a funding report.
Email reports, own SMTP server: Vicodis can send a daily, weekly or monthly report at a time you set: a short summary in the email and the figures as a CSV attachment. Everything goes through your mail server, with STARTTLS or SSL — there is no relay at our end.
Vicodis also answers in the data formats of the classic people counter apps — CSV, JSON, XML and .cnt — so reporting tools built for them can read it. Details on replacing discontinued Cognimatics people counters.
Why none of this needs a cloud: people counting without cloud, server or internet. All interfaces are part of the Vicodis Visitor Counter. The full interface documentation with every endpoint and field is available on request through our contact form.
It reads the live endpoint on the camera. A plain-text address returns a single value such as the number of free places, which almost any signage player can show; the JSON address returns all figures including the traffic light state. A camera account with viewer rights is enough to sign in.
Yes, without opening the camera network to the internet. Vicodis can push the live figure to a small receiver on your own web server every 30 seconds, protected by a token. Your website then reads the figure from its own server. Only the counts travel, never images, and only to the address you set.
UTF-8 with semicolons as separators, so it opens directly in Excel with European settings and imports cleanly into Power BI or other tools. You choose the period and the granularity — hourly, daily or monthly — and the report header names the location, the device ID and the period.
